10th, and 11th ~ Register today!
The Iron Mountain Camp is held each year at the foot of Iron Mountain in Butler Tennessee and is open to Blue Belt students and above who are working towards their CTS Black Belt. The annual gathering is structured as an intensive instructor candidate training course for serious student’s intent on working through the system and achieving their Black Belt Instructorship. Attendees have the opportunity to increase their knowledge of the curriculum and enhance their individual skill sets.
Located in the Appalachian Mountains on eleven wooded acres bordering the Cherokee National Forrest, this serene setting is an ideal place to leave the world behind and concentrate on the task of martial arts training. Participants have the opportunity to meet and work with other students and instructors also on their quest to develop martial arts mastery. The camp is also an opportunity to meet new people as well as old friends and talk about new ideas and recent developments of the system.
On the property we have the main cabin where we meet for lunch, dinner and relaxation after training. The training hall is a 2400 square foot building that gives us plenty of room for indoor practice. Weather permitting we train outside in the field which is ideal for weapons training with single stick, double stick, stick and dagger, staff and sword.

The camp is also where testing is conducted. We take testing very seriously as this is the way we ensure that students understand and perform the systems tactics under stress. Our organization strives to produce highly qualified students and instructors. There are no rank advancements awarded without thorough understanding and testing of the curriculum requirements.
Within Filipino martial culture there exists the concept of “play.” This term play is used to describe sparring based training that allows partners to hone their spontaneous combative skills against resisting opponents. Sparring drills, actual sparring and spontaneity training are a lot of fun and critical to developing some necessary skill sets. Sparring is conducted with the spirit of play and in a manner that ensures safety while considering the realities of violence and combat survival. Through sparring students are able to build confidence in their skills and capabilities. Some of our most fun, hearty laughter and memorable experiences at the Iron Mountain Camp come from our sparring sessions.
The 2011 camp promises to be one of the best camps yet. Attendees will learn exciting new concepts and tactics, develop new friendships, enjoy camaraderie and a few students will accomplish their goals of becoming an instructor in the Counterpoint Tactical System. So, if you are actively learning CTS you owe it to yourself to venture up on the mountain next fall and experience the intense and exciting Iron Mountain Camp.
